🌿Ruth Gordon-Martin
Founder & CEO, CODDLE
CODDLE was born from my own unprepared postpartum recovery and the realization that mothers deserve thoughtful support, cultural care traditions, and guidance long after birth.
When I was pregnant, I spent weeks reading The Mayo Clinic Complete Book of Pregnancy cover to cover. What I didn’t find was meaningful guidance on what happens after birth or how to care for myself during postpartum recovery.
After delivering my first child via C-section, I experienced significant blood loss and was discharged with postpartum anemia. At home, I was surrounded by love and traditional care of herbal sitz baths prepared by my aunt and nourishing warm soups and broths rooted in my Jamaican postpartum traditions. Yet I still felt unprepared for the physical exhaustion and emotional transition of the early weeks.
I quickly realized postpartum care was fragmented, rarely discussed, and often left for mothers to navigate on their own.
Today, CODDLE brings this vision to life through plant-powered postpartum essentials, expert guidance, and thoughtful education designed to help mothers feel more prepared, supported and confident during the early weeks after birth.
I've been featured in Shape, Create & Cultivate, and ToteSavvy, and have spoken at wellness summits on navigating the return to work after maternity leave. I was a finalist in the Black Girl Ventures + Equilibria Pitch Competition and the Pipeline Angels Pitch Summit.
Welcome to CODDLE — I’m so glad you’re here.
Warmly,
Ruth
